Outdoor Footstool Materials

Part 2 of 4

All of the outdoor footstool materials for this project were purchased from Metal by the Foot in Kansas City. I cannot say enough about the great level of service I recieved from the staff. I chose angle iron bar stock for both the top of the footstool and the legs and added about 4-5 inches of extra length to each leg to account for the bending of the metal which shortened the overall finished dimensions and also allowed an overlap of the top and legs to weld and secure.

The pieces were all cut to my specifications at Metal by the Foot, for a nominal fee. Flat bar stock was used to make supporting strips across the top for the cushion. Small balls were selected to fit into the grooves of the wavy legs for a "peapod" effect. The overall dimensions for the footstool plan were 18"w x18"l x10"h. Therefore the list included 4 pieces of angle iron for the top 18" long, 4 pieces of angle iron for the legs 14" long and several strips of 1" wide flat bar stock for the supporting strips across the top.
